Photgraphing Winter Sun, Snow, and Stars

If you know your camera well, then take this opportunity to capture the moods of Yellowstone's winter. You'll learn techniques for photographing snow, ice, wildlife, and the larger white landscape. After dark, experiment with photographing stars and night landscapes using available light and flash.

Class sessions focus on digital vision and compositional techniques that develop drama and beauty in your images, You will need a digital SLR with which you are familiar, a flash unit, tripod, and laptop.

Be sure to add winter gear to keep you warm during outdoor sessions

Winter Photography at Old Faithful

Challenge your photographic skills on this journey into the wintry heart of Yellowstone.

As you travel by snowcoach from Mammoth Hot Springs to Old Faithful, you'll stop to photograph Norris Geyser Basin and Lower Geyser Basin. Spend two full days in the Old Faithful area where you'll learn new techniques for capturing crystalline light on steaming springs, dazzling snowscapes, and snow-covered wildlife.

On the last day you will visit the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to capture images of this frozen beauty. Rooms have been set aside a Old Faithful Snow Lodge
